In Pakistan, family planning issue that decides by male, and women who struggle under burden. But, this time; we meet persons who did not allow his wife to have operation.

Qabool Mohammad Shah, 57, who lives in Thatta, challenged conservative society, and decided to have a vasectomy. He did not asked his wife to have an operation because he believed that woman and man should share equally.

“Women should not be borne more burden,” says Qabool Mohammad Shah.

The Rise News team found; people avoided speaking about family planning when asked men had an operation. Answer was, “No.”

In Thatta, Qabool M. Shah shared his experience, and allowed us to record his views on issue. [seen in video speaking in Sindhi]

Another person who holds the position in Sindh government while TRN team found that a politician who had a vasectomy whose name is Syed Nasir Hussain Shah – we contacted to him for a comment on family planning.

Nasir Hussain Shah, speaking confidentially; “I have five children, I was a mayor in Sukkur, a city of Sindh, Pakistan. I did attend program on family planning accompanied by other mayors – data was discussed that women’s ratio was huge who had an episiotomy , but male’s ratio was none.” He did promise at program, he would have a vasectomy. “I fulfilled my promise. Then, I realized that we should have an information of such kind of issues at early stage,” says Nasir Hussain Shah.

Doctor Shahida Memon said, women are brought to have operations or have a family planning to control birth. Males never come to have operation.

Qabool Shah spoke to TRN that in 2003, women had to have an operation – we were told that male could have an operation. I chose to have a vasectomy.

“If male meets with many women, he will have more children. But, women will have a child if she meets with many males. Really – problem is male [calling male as crocodile], and he should have an operation,” he says.

He encouraged others for operation. It does not harm your health. “We should educate our people regarding such issues. Why women only do – we [males] also contribute our part,” says Nasir Hussain Shah.
