Karachi: At the protest held at Karachi Press Club, protestors were filled with grief and shock over the murder of a young Sindh nationalist and Tiktoker Afzal Lund, demanding the arrest of his killer and calling for an investigation.
On September 11 of this year, Afzal Lund was shot to death at Tando Adam. He hailed from K.N Shah and was working for a private bank when, while on duty, Unknown assailants on a bike opened fire on him.
Afzal Lund’s murder has shaken the entire society in Sindh, and news of his murder gained attention on Social Media.
In the video, Afzal’s father was seen stating that “his son was innocent and that he consistently raised his voice for everyone, regardless of their community and ethnicity.”
The protesters lamented and stated that the state should review its policies, which they believe are causing serious problems for people. They alleged that the state abducts people, brutally tortures them, and fails to bring them to court. Protestors pointed out that people have gone missing for years, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS) organization and activists led the protest. Suhni Joyo, (VMPS), advocate Khalil Ansari, and Sarang Joyo, Sindh Sujag organization, and others joined.
Protestors stated that Afzal had been picked up by security agencies some months ago and later was released, with no allegation proven against him. He was seldom involved in politics and focused on his job. Protesters questioned why security agencies killed him and mentioned that he had received threatening calls from agencies.
