Sindhi students in Karachi were brutally tortured by the police—six students were seriously injured, including two in critical condition: one suffered a bullet wound, and another, Shahbaz Khaskheli, is in the ICU after being severely beaten.
A student told The Rise News that they had organized a march on April 22, 2025, against the construction of six canals and corporate farming. The march started at Teen Talwar and ended at the Karachi Press Club.

The next day, on April 23, police began harassing the students—even after they showed their student ID cards. A police officer from the Defence Police Station reportedly mocked them, saying, “You Sindhis are dacoits and want to attack Karachi.” The officer allegedly added that they would “teach Sindhis a lesson” and “remove them from Karachi.” The Rise News could not independently verify the officer’s remarks.
Students said the police refused to register a First Information Report (FIR) and used threatening language against lawyers who spoke out on behalf of the students. Interestingly, however, the police did register an FIR against the students on April 23.
Shahbaz Khaskheli remains in intensive care. He has been unconscious and on a ventilator for 11 days, while other students continue to suffer from their injuries. Students have demanded justice and a fair, impartial investigation into the incident.
