Hyderabad: The burnt body of distinguished resistance poet Dr. Aakash Ansari, 69, was mysteriously found inside his home. A medical examination confirmed 17 wounds on his body, including a fractured collarbone and deep injuries extending to his lungs. Officials suspect he was murdered before being set on fire.
The poet’s body was discovered in his house in citizen Colony, within the jurisdiction of Bhitai Nagar Police station. His adopted son, Shah Latif, informed friends and neighbors by phone—who rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames. Shortly after, Rescue Team 1122 arrived and doused the flames before removing the poet’s body from the room, which was almost burned.
Initial reports claimed that Dr. Aakash’s adopted son, Shah Latif, and his driver had been arrested.
Post-Mortem Report
According to the doctor who conducted the post-mortem, the deceased poet bore deep 17 wounds. The wounds led to doubts that he had been attacked with a knife. His throat also had a stab wound, and his collarbone was fractured. The injuries were spread across his body, including six wounds on his neck, four on his chest, three on his abdomen, and other on his back, arm, and leg.
The initial post-mortem findings suggest that this brutal attack was not carried out by a single person; rather, multi people were likely involved. Dr. Aakash showed no signs of resistance, leading to suspicions, that he may have been drugged before the attack.
Bhitai Nagar Police Officer Asghar Tunio stated that his team was informed about the incident around 9:40 a.m. However, neither the deceased poet’s family nor Rescue Team alerted the police. Instead, a journalist was the first to call and report what had happened.
Later, Dr. Aakash’s friends and the police insisted on bringing his body back from Tando Mohammad Khan to Civil Hospital in Hyderabad for a post-mortem examination.
