Kunri: Thirteen-year-old Hindu girl Najo Kohli was abducted, converted to Islam, and married to Muslim man named Lalo.
Najo is Asan Kohli’s eldest daughter among his five children—three daughters and two sons.
She was abducted at midnight on February 6, 2025, and the very next day, her religion was changed before she was married to Muslim man.
Her father, Asan Kohli, spoke to The Rise News and said that late at night, while everyone was sleeping, four armed men burst into their home. The abductors held guns to his and his wife’s heads. Fearing for their lives, they could not resist. The kidnappers then took his daughter away in a white a car.
The following day, when Kohli approached the police station to register First Information Report (FIR), the police refused. “Your daughter’s religion has been converted to Islam and is now married,” an officer told him. Kohli added that the police ordered him to leave, saying no FIR could be registered.
Kohli further added that local influential figures assured him they would help bring his daughter back. Holding on to this hope, he remained silent. However, their promises turned out to be false.

FIR Registered After 40 days
The police registered an FIR after half a month under the Child Restraint Act against four accused individuals.
Official documents—including a birth certificate and a school certificate—confirmed that the girl is a minor (The Rise News is in possession of these documents). According to the birth certificate, her date of birth is February 3, 2012, making her 13 years old.
Even child protection officer, Mumtaz Bhatti confirmed that girl is a minor.
The girl’s father insisted his daughter is underage and should be returned to them. He said he has no idea what has happened to her, as it has been more than a month. He urged the government to assist in bringing his daughter back.
The police initially refused to file a complaint. Forty days later, they arrested only one of the four named in the FIR.
