Ms. Veengas is the founder and Editor of The Rise News, Pakistan’s first non-profit bilingual digital news outlet in Sindh province. She established The Rise News to avoid the constraints of traditional media funding. Published in Sindhi and English, the outlet is dedicated to fair, accurate, and responsible reporting.
She began her journalism career with a Sindhi newspaper in 2008 and has since published in national and international outlets like The Wire in India. She is known for her political interviews and coverage of human rights, conflicts, and minority issues. She has reported extensively on forced conversion cases and has also delivered lectures, trained fellow journalists, and received several prestigious fellowships.
Veengas holds a degree in Political Science and a Master’s in History. While she uses her first name, some of her stories published under the byline Veengas Yasmeen as an ode to her mother.
