Peter Jacob
Mr. Jacob is a human rights expert, researcher, and freelance journalist based in Pakistan. His involvement with human rights organizations dates back to 1988, during which he has worked with notable group such as Amnesty International Pakistan, Forum Asia, and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. He served as the Executive Director of the National Commission for Justice and Peace from 1995 to 2013.
Currently, Mr. Jacob is the Executive Director of the Centre for Social Justice, a Pakistan-based research and advocacy organization. He is also the Chairperson of the People’s Commission for Minorities Rights. On January 18, 2024, the U.S. State Department honored him with the Secretary’s Religious Freedom Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to human rights and religious freedom.
Mr. Jacob’s educational background includes degrees in Political Science, Rural Development, and Law from institutions in Pakistan. In 2014, he earned an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame in the United States. He has also served as a guest lecturer at various universities within Pakistan and abroad.
