Karachi (TRN): Saif Samejo, a renowned singer, recently faced death threats from Abdul Hakeem Siyal, a professor at a government college. Siyal approached Samejo’s café in Hyderabad, repeatedly declaring, “We will never leave him; we will kill him.” Samejo expressed confusion over the threats, stating he had no idea why Siyal wanted him dead or why he continued saying, “We will never spare Saif.”
A First Information Report has been filed, and the police have apprehended Siyal. The police have registered a case under sections 506 and 504 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Earlier this month, Samejo organized the Lahooti Mela, a musical festival celebrating Diwali. Since the festival’s launch, some have criticized Samejo, but majority have praised his efforts to bring a cultural celebration to Mithi. The festival took place in same area where, this year, Dr. Shahnawaz Kanbhar was accused of committing blasphemy, and was later killed by the police in a staged encounter.
