Karachi: Shabnam Furiro, the mother of deceased Fatima Furiro, has reported receiving a threatening phone call from Pir Mithal Shah’s residence, wherein she was told not to criticize Hina Shah.
“I will never spare the Pirs. My deceased daughter Fatima had suffered, and now we seek justice,” said Shabnam, a deceased girl’s mother.
In the video, Shabnam was captured speaking to the media, where she revealed that she had been threatened not to criticize Hina Shah. Nevertheless, she stood firm against threats and expressed her determination to pursue justice for her daughter, Fatima.
Fatima’s brutal murder
Fatima Furiro, age of nine years old, who worked as a housemaid at a Haveli (mansion) owned by Haveli’s Asad Shah Jeelani in Khairpur district’s Ranipur. She succumbed to brutal torture within the premises of Asad Shah’s Haveli on August 14, 2023.
Initially, the local police and administration attempted to conceal the incident, and the victim’s family was hastily asked to bury the girl’s body.
Fatima’s case gained significant attention on social media when a video of her tortured body went viral. Shortly after the video, the police began arresting the alleged perpetrator, Asad Shah, along with others who aided him in evading justice for the murder.
An autopsy was conducted, revealing the shocking outcome of the brutal torture inflicted upon Fatima. Her entire body bore marks of torment, including a deep bluish-red bruise on her face, the right side of her forehead, and both of her eyes. The report indicated the presence of reddish-black bruise stains on the upper chest, mid-upper back, lower back, left arm, and forearm.
Evidence from autopsy examination indicates injuries to the genital and anal region, and samples gathered for further examination in the laboratory. The report also claimed the occurrence of rape.
The DNA results have yet to be submitted. Meanwhile, the victim’s family is being pressured to stay silent.
People against the Pir system
People in Sindh are participating in large protests against the Pir system. Conversely, the political parties are reluctant to take a clear position on the Pir system. Meanwhile, they have condemned the brutal murder of nine-year-old girl Fatima.
Shabnam is resolute and states, “People of Sindh are with me and she will no longer be intimidated by threats.”
