The HIV outbreak in Sindh, 1,112 people infected, “889 of them children” in April, in Larkana, city of Sindh.
In this week – reports claimed that citizens 1,167 were reported to be HIV – 929 young children, and 238 adults. It is also reported that official authorities have not implemented proper safety measures to preventing virus.
Last April, news outbreak in the media [National to International] and then Sindh government seen taking notice of issue – government promised that they would ensure proper health facilities – including – action to be taken against illegal practices by local doctors and local hairdressers and to be ensured all measures.
Citizens thought; government would look into issue and basic health facility would be given them. As, the media moved on another issue, Sindh government forgot its promise.
Recent reports said that more than one thousand people were tested HIVs and almost 900, have been children.
Why government needs a pile of affected people to take action? How many times children should be reported to be HIV? And, then government removes its sleep from eyes for looking at peril situation in Sindh.
Health is fundamental issue and it is a right. It is a responsibility of the ruling party in Sindh to provide health facility. We hope that government will not show its numbers of infrastructure of a few hospitals, rather, they should look into cases of HIV.
We want government to help citizens who are suffering – are unable to reach hospitals. Government should know that citizens also live in remote areas and they need your help – their children have right to live health life and follow their dreams, not fighting against HIV.
We understand, HIV cases are not only in Sindh – but across Pakistan, 160,000 people tested HIV in 2018, stated UNAIDS.
It is a collective responsibility of state to ensure good health care for every citizen in Pakistan. Citizens are being ruled by the state if they suffer, it means; state cannot provide them basic facilities.
