Dr. Nimrita Kumari case: Why VC holds the position, yet

Nimrita Kumar’s dead body found in her hostel room on September 16^th, 2019 – final student at Bibi Aseefa Dental College, Larkana, Sindh.

Nimrita Kumari Chandani’s dead was already declared a suicide by university Vice Chancellor Dr. Aneela Attar Ur Rehman while Nimrita’s dead body had not been conducted postmortem. Without holding an investigation – it was established that Nimrita committed a suicide.

But, civil society and social media demanded fair investigation of the case. Sindh high court allowed to investigate the case of Nimrita Kumari on September 26^th, 2019.

Recently, report is claimed that Nimrita Kumari was raped before being killed. After autopsy report, doubts turn into facts about Nimrita’s murder. However, the investigation is under process.

But, some who wanted to cover up the murder by dragging her personal life into the case. It is not first when girl’s life being questioned – who will ask administration, whom they want to protect?

Dr. Aneela Attar Ur Rehman VC failed to answer to questions, were asked by journalists about the case – she behaved recklessly towards them, instead.

It is seen how university administration tried to deflect the realities from case. Though, university admin. suspended lower staff in order to pretend to be fair in the case, but higher staff – the likes of VC still enjoys the position.

Has Sindh government asked an explanation of why she [VC] said that Nimrita had committed a suicide? Why Sindh government has not suspended her, yet?

These questions raise doubts over an investigation. We hope that Sindh government will look into the case, simultaneously, it must provide security at hostels.

In Nimrita Kumari’s case – authorities should act, seriously. The culprits should not get away with the murder.

Question still needs to be answered that how can citizens expect fairness in an investigation when VC holds the position?
