Parents do not go to the police because of honor and avoid being highlighted in cases. “Parents understand that the system will not do justice to them,” says Burkat Ali, provincial coordinator at Sindh chapter, Sahil organization.
Burkat Ali criticizes at Sindh government not for having built safe houses for children, nor has the government established any system. Besides, Sindh government legislated The Sindh Child Protection Authority Act, 2011 that policy could protect children. Children should be treated through counseling, in Sindh, only one counsellor was available.
It is claimed that 90 percent of cases end up compromising because the police do not cooperate with victimized families. The report said that registered cases 1340, out of 1489, thus, 135 cases were unable to have the proper information, and 7 cases did not get reported.
According to the report that Sindh and Punjab have confirmed more cases than other provinces. Sindh 477, and Punjab 853, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 91, Islamabad 35, Pakistan-administered Kashmir 10, and Balochistan 22.
According to data, 822 children can identify culprits, 234 children cannot identify, neighbors involved in 40 cases, relatives in 20 cases, teachers in 14 cases, a policeman in 01 a case, molvis in 18 cases.

“We should raise awareness of child abuse issue among our media and society – how it is possible that Faisalabad city reported more child abuse cases than Karachi, wonders Burkat Ali; “In media, some believe that such kinds of reports are not worth having published.” We (Sahil organization) publish reports to make society and the government realize that they should protect our children.
