Pakistan federal government Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf had come in 20-points agreement with Ulemas for opening Mosques of the Ramzan Month.
It is claimed that Ulema will follow the agreement.
In Pakistan, Ulemas are reluctant to boil down to understand stark warnings of COVID-19. They demanded that Taraweeh prayers would be observed in Mosques in Ramzan.
Central government did not seem to restrict lockdown in the state since COVID-19 cases reported whereas Sindh was first province that chose to place lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Now, Ulemas asked federal government for opening Mosques that was agreed through 20-points with President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi.
Dr. Arif Alvi said that “agreement with religious scholars was Ijma-e-Ummat [consensus of the Muslim community] and that its violation would “be categorized as a sin.”
Meanwhile, Mufti Munibur announced that he would pray at home. But, people can pray in mosques.
Friday prayers communal was seen in capital despite PTI government announced lockdown.
Pakistan has so far confirmed 11513 COVID-19 cases and 79 percent has been caused by local-spread, according to National Command and Operation Centre.
Unfortunately, healthcare system is poor in Pakistan – the country has to ask other countries help if it became worst. Health experts claimed that coming days are crucial and more cases to be reported.
“We doctors can only urge ruling party in the country to review its decision. We are not in position to deal the situation,” Dr. Abdul Bari Khan who is Chief Executive at Indus Hospital, said “Our society scarcely follow the instruction, and how they can honor the agreement during Ramzan.”
Sindh government banned Friday Prayer Congregational which was violated by clerics. The Police who went to impose the order of provincial government and locals attack them.
Other Muslim countries sealed their Mosques and did not permit clerics hold Friday Prayers. They had asked clerics to pray Taraweeh at homes. But, in Pakistan, Ulemas behave, differently. Ulemas mostly supported by military regimes. Besides, the ruling party PTI has supported and does not want to offend them. No matter, how many COVID-19 cases will be increased?
On social media citizens criticized government’s decision and said that Ulema should be controlled by those who control them.
Sana Ullah Baloch who is member at Balochistan Assembly, bemoaning over lack of leadership at national level, country had national level crisis and its planning did not represent all provinces. Federal government gave mixed-messages and people could go to Mosques due to agreement with Ulema. “Government has to give clear message.”
He wondered why Ulema did not follow Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries that were important to them.
Bushra Gohar who is former Member of Parliament and human rights activist, lambasted that Federal Government had plenty of time to declare an emergency and could allocate non development budgets to health and research and to get NDMA and PDMAs mobilize resources to establish isolation/quarantine centres. Instead, it made mess of the quarantine centre at Taftan and refused to stop the Raiwand Tableeghi congregation thus putting public at risk. It criminally facilitated the spread of the virus throughout the country.

She said that federal government created hurdles for Sindh government that led from front to prevent the spread of the virus.
Pakistan opposition leader Bilawal Bhutto called a failure of leadership that government allowed to remain open mosques in Ramzan.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that “Hospitals are full. 15-day will be more difficult – therefore, his government has decided to limit Taraweeh prayers in Mosques.”
Government should declare three months emergency to fight the COVID-19, otherwise, we could not stop it, said Sana Baloch.
“Governemtn has surrendered to Mullash allowing prayer congregation in mosques, it can put more lives at risk, Bushra Gohar said that Imran Khan asked “Christian citizen during Easter to stay at home and is justifying his surrender to Mullahs as being independent.”
