Sindh High Court has commuted British-born Ahmed Omar Saeed Shaikh’s death sentence to seven years in the killing of Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl.
Two-judge Sindh High Court bench headed by Justice Mohammad Karim Agha has announced verdict that three of four Fahid Naseem, Shaikh Adil, and Salman Saqib not found guilty and were set free them. And, main accused Ahmed Omar Saeed’s death sentence was commuted to seven years.
According to Reuters: “Omar has already served 18 years, so his release order will be issued sometimes today. He will be out in a few days,” Naveed said. (Khawaja Naveed is lawyer of Omar Saeed)
AP reported that seven other suspects, including those who apparently killed Daniel Pearl, were never arrested.

Daniel Pearl, 38, worked at Wall Street Journal – was investigating Islamist militants in Pakistan – went missing in January, 2002 – a month later, a video received by US diplomats, confirmed that Daniel Pearl had been decapitated.
