No foodstuff in other cities by Sindh government but Dargah still opens

“I sell Chhula in Sindhi [chickpeas] to support my family due to lockdown – it has been fourth day, have not earned a penny,” says Nadir Ali Khoso who is a daily wage worker in Dadu.

Sindh province was first that decided to place a lockdown on Sindh on 23^rd March, 2020 in order to stem the spread of coronavirus. Thus, other provinces of Pakistan followed footsteps of Sindh.

Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah took a tough decision and promised people that his government would look after them. In Sindh, most cases of coronavirus have been confirmed from Karachi and Sukkur – pilgrims who entered Sindh from Taftan border, Balochistan.

Laborers are said not to have received foodstuff in small cities of province.

In Sindh, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur mainly being reported in media how Sindh government had been working there. Other cities in Sindh are less reported – after coronavirus, a lockdown is observed in province.

Laborers and daily wage workers are affected during a lockdown – in small cities non-Muslims who are daily wage workers, are in trouble as they get hardly assistance.

“In city of Thatta – laborers suffer because people stay at homes and people hardly help, but in villages people help each another regardless of religion,” says local.

CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah’s own city Sehwan – Pathaan Kofi at shrine is providing food to people. Person who said not to be named; “Despite Sindh government’s order that Shrine remain closed, but Pathaan Kofi is open, and people gathered to have food there.”

People’s gathering can spread coronavirus. People cannot live without food.

Local administrations do not pay attention to what Sindh Chief Minister had promised. Government must ensure its local administration to help labourors.

“People should come and help everyone. In big cities, government can reach, effortlessly – but, in small cities, labours may suffer. Therefore, Sindh government should establish system that help them if government is unable to being reached them then locals should help them,” Asad Iqbal But spokesperson of Human Rights commission of Pakistan says “Coronavirus is globally issue, we all should be united to fight against it.”

He appreciated initiative of a lockdown by Sindh government – would save people’s lives – adding – our people always helped other who were in trouble. Sindh government had taken welfare organizations on board for distribution of foodstuff – including – selected social activists at its fund committee for maintaining fairness.

Pardeep Kumar complained that “488 poor families suffer in Dadu due to coronavirus. Neither local administration, nor Hindu ministers provide assistance to them.”
