Rohri/Sukkur: On Friday, A train collision killed 20 people, and 28 people injured at Rohri, Sukkur when passenger bus tried to cross railway crossing, collided with a train, splitting into three pieces – Pakistan Express train was traveling from Karachi to Rawalpindi.
First Information Report has been lodged against bus driver.
Shaikh Rasheed, federal minister for Railways spoke on train crash at press conference in Lahore that it was a job of Sindh government to build gates at railway crossings, adding, Sindh government should wipe unmanned railways crossing, according to media sources.
“Federal government cannot blame Sindh government,” says Awais Qadir Shah, Sindh minister for Transport and Mass Transit, “railways department comes under federal government – how Sindh government can do their job.”
He said that where train Crash took, was his constituency. They had been requesting to federal government to construct gates and manage the signal system. But, federal government had not paid attention to their requests. And, he rejected claims and said; train accident was not first time – federal government should improve railway crossings – it is job of federal, not Sindh government.
Locals said that they had no facility to help injured people and complained, railways authorities had fixed a signboard and railway crossings left over from British Raj.
“Pakistan Express train was one hour late,” source said.
