School teachers are said to have sent letters to authorities for salaries.
“I personally contacted and sent letters to official authorities in order to support our school. I have been struggling to build school for our children. Children were studying at shed,” says Aasu Kohli, who became known for her struggle for education – she is physically impaired and lives in small village in Umerkot [Amar Kot], Sindh. She never gave up and kept continuing studies. Despite, she was discouraged because of her health.
Sindh government ministers met and promised her to build school. Since 2014, she has not received support from official authorities and those who made promises.
“In Pakistan, those who work honestly – are being discouraged,” says Aasu Kohli.
Now, she has opened a school “Kombho Mal Primary School” named school after her father, at small village, in collaboration with Sindh Education Foundation – Government of Sindh.
She claimed that her school had not received financial support, in spite of having submitted all documents – since seven months, teachers were not given their salaries.
Ashfaque Hussian Mirani, is regional head at Sindh Education Foundation, said that they had known about matter of school. Because of budget issue, his organization had delayed some process. “Within 20-day – Aasu Kohli’s issue will be solved” – adding – we all are working for better education and there is no doubt that Aasu Kohli is doing better job.
“The land of Sindh is gold – we have talented youth, we need to educate them. If you do not educate your youth, nation’s future will be darkened,” says Aasu Kohli.
